Students gain research skills while working on TASCHA projects

During winter quarter 2015, TASCHA held a research seminar open to University of Washington students. The research seminar was originally designed to get students involved with our Information Strategies for Societies in Transition project. So many students registered for the seminar, though, that we expanded the seminar to include other TASCHA projects, like the current evaluation of library-like resource centers in Namibia and our recently launched MOOCs for development project.

If so, TASCHA Research Faculty Araba Sey and Researcher Chris Rothschild are leading a program this summer in Ghana that could be perfect for you and your education. This Exploration Seminar focuses on research, development, communication, and technology. The seminar is four-weeks long and students can receive graduate or undergraduate credits.

TASCHA’s two Winter 2010 seminars continue to focus on the Global Impact Study of Public Access to Information & Communication Technologies. The Inventory Database course will bring students together to help with the development of an online database of public access venues in Bangladesh, Brazil, Chile, Lithuania, and the Philippines. The Benefit Cost Analysis seminar is designed to parallel the research process for scholars and practitioners interested in benefit cost analysis. Students will participate in three research processes: research design, data analysis, and presentation of policy relevant findings.
