Jay Freistadt

Jay Freistadt is a TASCHA alumnus. He is now a Senior Enrollment and Capacity Analyst at Seattle Public Schools. His research interests include Brazilian education policy, social structure and mobility, investment in human capital, and political economy. Jay has researched ICTs (telecentros) in Brazil with TASCHA, investigating correlation between technical courses and employability, and examining both the origins of the policies and whether these policies challenge Brazilian social structure. Jay received his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from the Jackson School at the University of Washington in 2006, during which he coordinated a Task Force recommending policies for Brazil. He worked as a coordinator for the Center for Brazil Studies Initiative, to create initiatives and funding opportunities for stronger curriculum on Brazil at the University of Washington. Jay has spent 2 years living in Brazil over 10 years of trips and is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
