Social Movements
Social movements are using technology to change the social and political fabric around the world. Technology permeates contemporary democratic, collective action. It is a communication mechanism that lays atop existing social networks. TASCHA’s social movements research examines technology in the context of collective action and people-powered social change. How does technology effect communication, organization, and action? How does technology complement other mobilization strategies and priorities? What are the downsides of new technologies?
