Development & Access to Information

Access to information is a fundamental requirement that underpins the achievement of all development goals, and the role that libraries play in providing that access is critical in many places around the world. The Development and Access to Information project (DA2I) is a joint project between TASCHA and the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). This project will demonstrate just how access to information (A2I) and libraries contribute to the achievement of the United Nations (UN) 2030 Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This work will result in a Development and Access to Information Report that measures progress on the A2I component of the SDGs, informing the work of the library and digital development fields, civil society organizations, and the UN. The report will also feature thought pieces from leaders in the A2I and library sectors to spotlight key issues. This project and report was conceived as part of the Lyon Declaration on Access to Information and Development in 2014, and the report will be updated and released biannually until 2030.
