The funding will be used to support the efforts of the Center for an Informed Public (CIP) as part of the Election Integrity Partnership (EIP), a coalition of research entities focused on supporting real-time information exchange between the research community, election officials, government agencies, civil society organizations, and social media platforms. The EIP’s objective is to detect and mitigate the impact of attempts to prevent or deter people from voting or to delegitimize election results. This grant will primarily be used to hire student researchers and analysts, and to provide support to core team members. The project recently kicked off and will extend through the U.S. elections in November, with additional dedicated effort post-election on analysis. This project directly supports Craig Newmark Philanthropies’ mission of voter protection as well as contributing to a more trustworthy information ecosystem.
