This research agenda proposes a new Cooperative Cellular Network (CoopCell) architecture. In this design, multiple private networks collaborate to provide coverage to subscribers, sharing resources such as authentication primitives, spectrum, and subscribers using a distributed design. We are seeking funding to 1) implement critical outstanding systems such as inter-network handover and 2) explore the social implications of such a network architecture in collaboration with the Tacoma Community Network (TCN).
