Expanding Library Networks to Promote Digital Inclusion for Marginalized Urban Communities

The Tacoma Public Library (TPL) requests a two year National Leadership Project Grant (Community Catalyst) in the amount of $249,969 to develop a model for digital engagement that low-resource libraries can use to provide services for the highest need individuals in their communities. This model will include basic digital training modules for librarians, guides for implementing community networks that extend Internet connectivity from libraries to high-need neighborhoods, and online service modules that target the needs of community members within these neighborhoods. Results will directly expand the capacity of TPL to offer digital services and positively impact their community, and will also provide tools and resources that libraries across the nation can use to promote digital inclusion within their communities.
