Charles Bugre is pursuing a PhD in information Science at the UW iSchool. He is a recipient of the TASCHA PhD Fellowship that offers students the opportunity to conduct research with iSchool faculty and research scientists in an area aimed at advancing the public library field. He will also be working as a research assistant with the Advancing Library Visibility in Africa project.
His research interests include the use of ICT for economic and social development in developing countries; information/ICT and its ethical use among the youth; digital literacy for persons with low-levels of literacy; ICT and the future of libraries; deepfakes and its looming effects on democracy.
Prior to TASCHA, Charles has worked as an academic librarian for over nine years and as a lecturer in Information Technology for over three years. He has MSc Information Technology from Sikkim Manipal University, India and BA in Information Studies and French from University of Ghana.
